He has won prizes, including the RNCM Concerto Competition, the Royal Over-seas League Music Competition in the UK, Illinois MTNA Young Artist Woodwind Competition and the Evanston Music Club and North Shore Musicians Club Competitions in the USA.

Having performed in more than ten countries across three continents, Alvin has a diverse performance portfolio spanning solo, ensemble, and orchestral work, as well as traditional and contemporary music. In 2026 and 2023, he gave recitals at the World Saxophone Congresses, the major saxophone events in the world. In his native Hong Kong, Alvin is an active and in-demand saxophonist who organizes and participates in public events during his annual visits. These include solo recitals, solo engagements with the Hong Kong Youth Saxophone Choir, and saxophone orchestra concerts, all of which have been well received by local audiences and the saxophone community.

Alvin’s ensemble experience began in his earlier years. In 2018, he was selected through audition to join the Asian Youth Orchestra, which awarded him a fully sponsored performance tour, giving 16 concerts in 11 Asian cities as an orchestral saxophonist. Currently he is active in the Manchester-based Fractal Quartet, who are the finalists in the Royal Over-seas League Chamber Competition, and also the prize winner of RNCM Chamber Group of the year. Together with the group, they recently appeared in major venues and events such as the Wigmore Hall and the Manchester Marathon.

Alvin completed his bachelor's degree at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and was awarded a scholarship to pursue a master’s degree at the Bienen School of Music, Northwestern University. He furthered his study in the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp in Belgium, and at the Royal Northern College of Music, UK where he currently resides in.
